Kym Johnson was born on 4 August, 1976, in Australia. She is a former professional ballroom dancer, model, and television celebrity.
Kym began dancing at the early age of two, and began ballroom dancing at the age of 13. She and her Lithuanian partner Tomas Atkocevicius, placed second at the Australian Dancesport Championships in the Open Amateur Modern Ballroom, back in 1998. Johnson retired from competitive ballroom dance in 2001, but nevertheless she continued dancing on stage.
She became a celebrity shortly after appearing on Dancing with the Stars, which is a televised ballroom dance competition.
In 2004 and 2005 she appeared on Seasons 1-3 of Dancing with the Stars in Australia. She and Tom Williams were the winning couple of season 2, they both later performed in the Champi
on of Champion series. In the early 2006, she appeared on behalf of the Merry Makers on the Australian program Celebrity Survivor. Later the same year, Kym appeared on season 3 of the US Dancing with the Stars, alongside Jerry Springer. Kym and Jerry proved very popular and were the 7th couple sent off couple.
On March 19, Kym returned to the ballroom for season 4, this time partnered with Joey Fatone. She became the runner-up professional dancer of that season.
Kym partnered with David Hasselhoff in Season 11. Unfortunately the couple was the first to be eliminated, making the second time she was eliminated in the first round.
Kym appears in the DVD Dancing with the Stars: Cardio Dance, along with Maksim Chmerkivskiy and Ashly DelGrosso-Costa.
