Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948) moved to Norway in 1937 and to the UK in 1940.
Short Biography:
From 1918 he developed a variation on collage, using discarded rubhish such as buttons and bus tickets to create pictures and structures.
He called these art works Merz, and produced a magazine called Merz from 1923. Later he created Merzbau, extensive constructions of wood and scrap, most of which were destroyed.
