KT Tunstall KT Tunstall (real name Kate Tunstall) was born on June 23, 1975 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. She is a Scottish singer and songwriter and she became famous because of her performance on Later with Jools Holland with her song "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree"..

Biography and Career :

She was adopted after only eighteen days. Her birth mother is a Chinese-Scottish and her birth father is Irish. Her adoptive father was a physics lecturer at the University of St Andrews, and her adoptive mother a school teacher. She grew up in St Andrews and she attended high school in New England at Kent School.

She debuted in music singing in bands like Elia Drew and Tomoko. She sang near Oi Va Voi and she featured on their debut album called "Laughter Through Tears". In 2004 she released her first album called "Eye to the Telescope" which combining stiles beginning with pop and rock and finishing with folk.

Her first really success was a solo performance of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on Later with Jools Holland. Soon after this she re-made her album and this was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize. Her fame increased when American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee asked her if she can use "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" as her choice for a Billboard-themed week.

In 2005 she had a conflict with Dido after she said that she "can't fucking sing" after several fans compared the two musically. In 2007 appeared "Drastic Fantastic" and "Have yourself a very KT Christmas".

On 13 January 2008, she was featured in the premiere episode of the series Live from the Artists Den at 8 PM ET/PT on Ovation TV. The episode documented her performance from 9 July 2007 at the Prince George Ballroom in Manhattan, New York.
