Kristy McNichol was born in Los Angeles, California, USA on 11th September, 1962. She is born to Carollyne, a business manager and actress and Jim McNichol a carpenter. She is a former American actress.

Biography and Career:

Kristy McNichol's father comes from a Scottish background and her mother from a Palestinian background. Kristy McNichol initially did commercials with her brother. Later she gave guest performances in series like Starsky and Hutch, The Bionic Woman, Love American Style and The Love Boat. In 1974 got an opportunity do the main role for the series Apple's Way for the CBS Television. For the series Apple's Way she did the role of Patricia Apple.

In 1976 Kristy McNichol did the role of Buddy for the series Family for which she got two Emmy Awards and best supporting actress. This show was about real life issues and was produced by Aaron Spelling.

Kristy McNichol in 1977 December did a musical show The Carpenters at Christmas and in 1978 she and her brother joined together made their own album "Kristy and Jimmy McNichol" for RCA record.

In 1978 Kristy started her film career where she started of with a comedy movie "The End" and in 1980 she did Coming of Age with Tatum O'Neal and Little Darlings and in 1981 she acted in The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia with Dennis Quaid and Mark Hamill and in Only When I Laugh. In 1981 Kristy was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the Best Supporting Actress for the movie Only When I Laugh.

In 1992 Kristy McNichol decided to stop acting she was diagnosed with bipolar disease. Kristy McNichol is not married and teaches acting in a private school in Los Angles.
