Kimi Raikkonen (full name Kimi Matias Ri¤ikki¶nen) was born on October 17, 1979 in Espoo, Finland. He is a successful race car driver currently driving for Scuderia Ferrari and he is Formula One World Drivers' Champion for the 2007 championship.
Biography and Career :
When he was ten years old he started karting and had a long line of success in karting since then. His first race outside his home country was in Monaco when he was 15 years old. His steering wheel broke during the race and he informed his mechanic about the problem by waving the steering wheel in the air on the home straight..
After years of good results he became a racing driver and in 2001 entered Formula One. His team then was Sauber. On the basis of these results, Peter Sauber gave the Finn a test with
the Sauber Formula One team in September of 2000. After further tests in Jerez and Barcelona, Sauber signed Ri¤ikki¶nen for the 2001 season.
Between 2002 and 2006 he competed for McLaren and in 2007 became the driver of Ferrari. He became the champion in 2007 and until now won 48 races on the first place and had 14 pole positions.
The first race he had ever participated in Formula One was the 2001 Australian Grand Prix and the first one won was the 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix. He was asleep 20 minutes before his first F1 GP. It is said that he loves to sleep - so much so that he needs to be woken up before qualifying and races.
On July 31, 2004 he married Jenni Dahlman, who was elected Vice Miss Soumi 2000 and Miss Scandinavia 2001. During the years he broke many records and is one of the best drivers of the moment. He is a very talented person, loves what he is doing and will surely continue this amazing road with success.
