Kimberley Locke (birth name Kimberley Dawn Locke) was born on January 3, 1978 in Hartsville, Tennessee, USA. She is an American adult contemporary pop/R&B singer and plus-size fashion model.
Biography and Career :
She is the daughter of Donald and Christine Locke, respectively a truck driver and a clothing warehouse worker for the Gap/Old Navy distribution center in Gallatin, Tennessee. Her parents divorced when she was eight years old.
She began singing when she was only five years old in the church choir. At nine years old she founded with some friends, Chandra Boone, Selina Robb, and NaCole Rice a quartet named "Shadz of U". After she graduated from Gallatin High School she started to work for a company in Nashville as an administrative assistant.
She became famous af
ter her participation at the second edition of great music conquest "American Idol". In 2003 she signed a contract with Curb Records and after one year appeared her debut album called "One Love". The first single on this album called "8th World Wonder" was very successful and it been in first places in many American and British charts.
In 2007 she made her second album called "Based on a true story", which was more successful than the first and stayed for many weeks in the first places. In the end of the year Kimberly made another album special for Christmas called "Christmas" which included some personal versions of famous songs like "Up on the house top", "Jingle Bells" and "Frosty the Snowman".
