Biography and Career
Keith Richard, the only child of Bert and Doris Dupree Richards, attended Dartford Technical School from 1955 to 1959, and was noticed by the choirmaster for his singing voice. It led to Keith singing at Westminster Abbey in front of Queen Elizabeth II, which he described as his 'first taste of show biz'.
Keith dropped out of Dartford Tech and Went to Sidcup Art College, where he bought his first guitar and started playing the guitar solos of Chuck Berry. He had been separated form Mick Jagger when he moved to a different neighbourhood, but met him on the train one morning in 1961, and they proceeded to form a band with the inclusion Brian Jones and Ian Stewart, with whom they
went on to form, The Rolling Stones.
Keith's guitar playing was phenomenal, even at an early stage. His acoustic guitar playing skills were featured prominently in The Rolling Stones' 'Not Fade Away', 'Brown Sugar', 'Beast of Burden', and 'Almost Hear You'.
