Katie Melua (birth name Ketevan Melua) was born on September 16, 1984 in Georgia, USSR. She is a young musician.
Biography and Career :
She had attended BRIT Performing Arts & Technology School in Croydon, Surrey, England and St. Mary's Convent in Portstewart, Northern Ireland. Manager Mike Batt was the person who discovered her. Her first album was released in 2003 and it is called "Call off the Search", besides this she released another two.
Some of her songs are "The Closest Thing to Crazy", "Call Off The Search", "Nine Million Bicycles" or "If You Were a Sailboat". She sings a, blues, jazz and besides being a singer she also plays the guitar, piano and violin.
During the years her talent was rewarded
with many prizes, for example ECHO Award for Best International Newcomer in 2005, Goldene Kamera for Pop International Solo and ECHO Award for Best International Female Artist in 2007. On VH1's "Call off the Search" she is the 87th best-selling British album in history.
In 2004 she and Jamie Cullum performed a duet at the Brit Awards. She also debuted as an actress in 2007 in "Grindhouse". Her voice and talent conquered the hearts of many people and she is supported by fans all over the world. We are sure she will continue this great career she started.
