Katee Sackhoff (birth name Kathryn Ann Sackhoff) was born on April 8, 1980 in Portland, Oregon, USA. She is an American actress.

Biography and Career :

She is the daughter of Dennis, a contractor and land developer, while her mother, Mary, a retired schoolteacher ans she is the third child of her parents.

She grew up in St Helens but in 1990 her family moved in Portland and she attended the classes of Sunset High School in Beaverton.

When she was a teenager she participated to a lot of swimming conquests but a knee injury stopped her hope to become an Olympic champion.

One of her most appreciated roles was in "Battlestar Galactica", she was cast as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, a fighter pilot in the Colonial Fleet. In the original Battlestar Galactica, the Starbuck char acter was a man, portrayed by Dirk Benedict.

Creator Ronald D. Moore's decision to change the character's gender for the contemporary remake was originally controversial with fans of the original series, but most of them have come to accept Sackhoff's take of the hot-shot pilot.

She concentrated on acting, another passion of her and after some roles in small school plays she had her first big role in Lifetime TV movie Fifteen and Pregnant (1998), starring Kirsten Dunst.

Sam Pillsbury was impressed by her performance and encouraged her to come to Hollywood, so after she graduated from high school she moved to Los Angeles.

She began her career on the small screen with some roles in "The Education of Max Bickford", "ER" and "Cold Case". She also played in movies like "Halloween: Resurrection", "White Noise: The Light" and the Lifetime movie "How I Married My High School Crush".
