Kate Mara was born on the February 27, 1983 in Westchester County, New York, USA and she is an American television and film actress.

Biography and Career :

She is the daughter of Chris Mara, a scout for the New York Giants, and Kathleen Rooney. Her grand-father is Timothy Mara, the founder of New York Giants.

She was raised in Bedford and she started her acting career when she was very young playing in a variety of theatre plays. She decided that she would be a famous actress after she saw the movie “Les Miserables”. Her professional debut in television was at the age of thirteen when she played in an episode of “Law and Order”.

Her first appearance on the big screen was in 1999 with a small role in “R andom Hearts” opposite Harrison Ford and in the same year in “Joe the King” opposite Ethan Hawke. After some roles in sitcoms like “Ed”, “Nip/Tuck” and “Ever wood” in 2002 she had her first big success with her role in the movie “Tadpole”, which was appreciated by critics and viewers.

From 2005 she started to play in really exceptional film like: Brokeback Mountain (2005), Zoom (2006) with Tim Allen, We Are Marshall (2006), with Matthew McConaughey, The Shooter (2007), with Mark Wahlberg, and Transsiberian with Woody Harrelson (2007).
