She started her acting career in Australian on theatre's stage and played some good roles especially Shakespeare's plays like Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. Her first television role was in 1997 in an Aussie television show called "The Gift".
She appeared on the big screens first in small roles from movies like Strange Planet in 1999 opposite Naomi Watts and after this she played a prostitute role in "Chopper". This role put her i
n a favorable spot of light and made her famous so soon after it she appeared in big budget movies, first of them being The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.
Her first successful role was in Flightplan in 2005 near Jodie Foster and Erika Christensen and soon after this in other good movies like: The Wicker Man (2006) opposite Nicolas Cage, and The Return (2006), a Sarah Michelle Gellar supernatural thriller. Although before 2003 there were a lot of Americans who never heard about her, now Kate is a popular Aussie actress near Heath Ledger and Nicole Kidman.
