Karyn Parsons was born on 8th October, in Hollywood, California, in 1966.
Biography and Career
Karyn Parsons was an only child, and was an aspiring dancer at a young age. She has to retire from dancing at an early pre-teen age because of a knee injury, but was inspired to acting when she saw her schoolmates perform in George Bernard Shaw's "Mrs Warren's Profession".
While in high school, she performed in her first musical, "Broadway", and went on to appear in many other plays and many awards. Graduating from high school, she turned down scholarship offers from the prestigious Miller Theatre at Columbia University and the Tisch Scholl of the Arts in New York, and focused on her own acting career in Los Angeles.
Karyn had first entered acting at the age of 13, first appea
ring in NBC's "The Bronx Zoo" (1987), and made her first big break as "Hilary Banks" in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990). She then went on to appear in movies such as "Class Act" (1992), "Major Payne" (1995), "Mixing Nia" (1998) and "13 Moons" (2002). It was in "13 Moons) which she met her 2nd husband, director Alexandre Rockwell. They married in 2003. She was first married to Randy Brooks, but was divorced in the 90s. Karyn has a daughter, Lana, born 2003, and a son, Nico, born 2007.
Karyn's current project is titled, Sweet Blackberry, which is a series of animated films about unsung black heroes.
