Biography and Career
Karina Lombard was born to Tahiti, to Henry Lombard, a European aristocrat, and Nupuree Lightfoot, an immigrant of Lakota Sioux ethnicity. Karina grew up in Barcelona, Spain, where she attended Swiss boarding schools, before she went to New York at the age of 18. It was there that she started modeling and studying acting.
Karina had her first major breakthrough in modeling, when she had a Calvin Klein shoot with a Native American theme. One of the photographs she was in, was chosen to be a billboard ad.
Having theatre training and stage experience mainly from New York's Gallery Theatre, Karina also had stints with the Neighbourhood Playhouse, the Actors Studio and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Ins
titute.
Karina's first major film was 'Wide Sargasso Sea' (1993), followed by 'The Firm' (1993). In 1994, she garnered a role in 'Legends of the Fall', a drama film directed by Edward Zwick and starring Brad Pitt. Her other appearances in movies include 'Last Man Standing' (1996), 'Kull The Conquerer' (1997), 'Deception' (2001), 'Guardian' (2001) and 'Big Kiss' (2004). Moving on to television in the 2000s, she appeared on the first season of 'The L Word' and in 'The 4400'. Altogether, she made a total of 3 appearances on 'The L Word', with the last appearance in 2008.
Karina is currently portraying Genevieve, a recurring character on 'Rescue Me', which revolves around the personal and professional lives of a group of New York firefighters, during and after a terrorist attack.
