Biography and Career
Born Kara Louise Tointon, Kara began her acting career at the age of 7. Attending speech and drama lessons, primarily in school, she has also taken part in LAMDA examinations, and entered musical festivals during poetry recital. The first professional experience for Kara, was playing the part of Brigitta in 'The Sound Of Music' at the Cliffs Pavilion. Her first paid job came, when she acted as one of the children in the pantomime 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.
Kara made her first appearance on television, as an extra on 'EastEnders' (1994), where she played a school friend of Sonia Fowler. And in 2001, She joined the series 'Teachers' on England's Channel 4, playing the role of Pauline Young.
2004, she had an appearance in 'Mile High', and returned to her former 'Dream Team' role as Gina Moliano in December, until May 2005. Other film appearance include 'Just My Luck', 'The Football Factory' and advertisements for companies, including McDonalds.
She joined the BBC soap EastEnders as a new character, Dawn Swann, when she ended her run with Dream Team, leaving only in the year 2009, along with co-star Ricky Groves.
Kara had also appeared and won the Sport Relief version of 'Strictly Come Dancing', in March 2008, in which celebrity contestants are paired up with professional dancers.
August 2009 saw her being unveiled as the new face of Michelle for George underwear at Asda, and she is scheduled to star alongside Joe Swash in 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' in the upcoming 2009/2010 pantomime season.
