Julieta Venegas was born on November 24, 1970 and she is a successful Mexican singer and songwriter of Latin music.
Biography and Career :
Julieta Venegas grew up in the tequila-laced border town of Tijuana, the only one of five children who dedicated herself to music. At only 8 years of age, Julieta Venegas was hopping between voice lessons, music theory classes and piano and cello lessons, whether in the elite Escuela de Msica del Noroeste, or in Southwestern College in San Diego. Julieta Venegas has a twin sister Yvonne, a photographer.
Julieta Venegas got her first band experience as a teenager in the group Chantaje, which evolved into Tijuana No!, a ska-punk combo that Julieta soon quit, since the predictability of the sound bored her.
Julieta Venegas is Recogn
ized by MTV:
What went around definitely came around. Songs like "Cmo S" and "De Mis Pasos" showed a singer's maturity and intimacy with sound. Julieta's narrative lyrics, with an almost documentary quality, told stories packed with meaning. A tour of Mexico with a few stops in the U.S. propagated her name further, later earning her a Nuestro Rock award for Best New Album of 1997, and an MTV VMA award for Best Female Performance for the "Cmo S" video.
Julieta Venegas' Fame :
Trained in the classics, Julieta Venegas had an appreciation for the construction of a melody and the importance of thinking out every single note. She put this meticulous attention to work in her compositions for plays and later for movies with international success. In the meantime, she lent her musicality to different bands until she formed her own eponymous combo in Mexico City.
Julieta Venegas has a more European than Mexican look with fair skin, rounder eyes and a slender nose. Julieta, indeed, looks better with a straight face than a smile, which suits her early music. Her eyebrows seem a bit disjointed at points, but give her a charming imperfection nonetheless.
"I used to be a total skeptic about happiness. Even if I was okay with my life, with everything, I would still see it when I sat down and wrote about it, it always came out kind of ironic and you know, it's going to end or it's going to go bad."
