Julia Vakulenko was born on July 10, 1983 in Jalta, Ukraine. She is a professional tennis player.

Biography and career :

She is one of the young players in the circuit and she is considered very pretty by many people. She became a professional tennis player in 1998 and since then has won four ITF single tournaments.

She is tall and has many chances to win titles even if until now (2007) the chances weren't too good for her. Her performances at the Grand Slam tournaments are: she reached the second round at the US Open in 2003 and 2004. The same performance was obtained in 2005 at Wimbledon and in 2004 and 2007 at the Australian Open.

At Roland Garros she played in the third round in 2003 and 2006, but she stopped there every time. She has earned a little over 500.000 dol lars from tennis until now. In May 2007 she was ranked on the highest position for her until now in Top 100., it was the 33rd position she occupied that time.

During the Wimbledon tournament in 2006 she suffered an injury and could not continue playing. An important victory of her career was at Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin in 2007 when she won against Amelie Mauresmo, who is World's Number Three, with the score 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. She didn't stop there and also won against Dinara Safina with 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. She continued the tournament with a semi-final against Ana Ivanovic.

Let's hope that injuries won't affect her in the future and she will be able to play and win many tournaments.
