Juan Ignacio Chela was born on August 30, 1979 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a professional tennis player.

Biography and Career :

He became a professional tennis player in 1998 and since then he has won four single tournaments and two doubles tournaments. The single titles were won in Mexico City in 2000, in Amersfoort in 2002, in Estoril in 2004 and in Acapulco in 2007. His opponents in the finals were Mariano Puerta, Albert Costa, Marat Safin and Carlos Moya. All of the four single titles were win on clay.

In 2001 he played the final at Sao Paulo, but lost it to Agustin Calleri. The next year he played another two finals, one at Sydney and one at Long Island, but he was eliminated every time. He was defeated by Roger Federer and Paradorn Srichaphan.

In 2006 at Acap ulco and Kitzbuhel he lost another two finals to Luis Horna or Agustin Calleri. The two doubles ATP titles were won at Estoril and Vina del Mar, both in 2004.

He participated at the tournament in Acapulco in 2004 as a doubles player and played the final, but unfortunately he lost it. One year later he played the doubles final at the tournament in Acapulco, but he lost the title.

In 2003, 2004 and 2007 he participated at Wimbledon and his performances as a single player were reaching the second round each time. At the US Open in 2002 and at the Australian Open in 2006 he reached the fourth round.

His best performance at a Grand Slam event remains the quarter-final he played in 2004 at Roland Garros. He is a great player with a great style of play and his favorite surface remains hard. Let's hope that we will see him many years on the tennis court because he is talented and deserves to be here.
