Joseph Aloysius Lyons (1879-1939) was an Australian politician, founder of the United Australia Party in 1931, prime minister (1931-1939).
Short Biography:
He was born in Tasmania and first elected to parliament in 1929. His wife Dame Enid Lyons (1897- ) was the first woman member of the House of Representatives and of the federal cabinet.
