John Of Salisbury (c.1115-1180) was a English philosopher and historian.
Short Biography:
His Policratkus portrayed the church as the guarantee of liberty against the unjust claims of secular authority.
He studied at Paris and Chartres (1130-1153), supported Thomas Becket against Henry II, and fled to France after Becket's murder, becoming hishop of Chartres in 1176.
