John Boehner was born on 17 November, 1949, in Reading, Ohio, US. He is a politician.
John is the son of Mary Anne and Earl Henry Boehner, the second of twelve children in a German-Irish family. He started working at the young age of 8 at his family’s bar, a business founded in 1938 by their grandfather Andy Boehner. John lived his entire life in Southwest Ohio.
In 1968 he graduated from Cincinnati Moeller High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy but after eight weeks was honorably discharged for medical reasons. He became the first person in his family to attend college, and in 1977 he earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Late on John accepted a position with Nucite Sales, where he eventually became president of the firm.
As for his early political career, John served on the board of trustees of Union Township, Butler Country, Ohio, from 1982 to 1984. He then served from 1985 to 1990 as an Ohio state representative.
In 1990 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 102nd Congress. An within his first year, John and fellow members, exposed drug sales and illegal cash-for-stamps deals at the House Post Office, among other important uncovers.
Boehner was elected as chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee from 2001 until 2006, following the election of United States President Gorge W. Bush.
John was a major force in the passage of the No Child Left behind Act of 2001, stating that it was his “proudest achievement” in over two decades of public service. According to the 2008 Congress.org Power Ranking, Boehner is the most powerful Republican. Boehner serves as an ex officio member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as Minority Leader.
As for his personal life, John and his wife Debbie were married back in 1973. The have two daughters, Lindsay and Tricia. John and his family currently live in the Wetherington section of West Chester Township.
