She used to act in plays when in school and gradually she got an opportunity to act in a popular British TV Serial "Coronation Street" in 1960 when she was ten years old. She has also acted in series like "Emmerdale Farm" in 1972 and "A Kind of Loving" in 1982. After acting in the series "A Kind of Loving" she was known for playing the roles of cunning, gifted girls.
After she got recognition on television she auditioned for England's Royal Court T
heater and was selected by the theater. Because of her classical performance in the theater she gained a status in the theater field and was nominated for "Olivier". She was a natural actress so she got a chance do a supporting role for the movie "Pink Floyd the Wall" in 1982.
