Biography and Career:
Jim spent his childhood in Newmarket until the age of 14 when he moved with his family to Scarborough, Ontario. He studied at Blessed Trinity Catholic School in North York and after Agincourt Collegiate Institute. He also studied at Northview Heights Secondary School and Aldershot High School in Burlington, Ontario, the place where he lived for eight years.
Since 1979 Jim started doing stand-up comedy in Toronto and moved to Los Angeles for a better chance in his career. There he started acting in small television series and movies. His real break as an actor happend in 1983 when Jim received a role in "R
ubberface". In the same year he also played in "Copper Mountain".
His first success as a leading actor was with "Once Bitten", a dark comedy but he wasn't known as a star until 1994 when he played in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective". Later he started playing in other popular movies as "The Mask", "Dumb and Dumber", "Batman Forever", "Liar Liar", "The Truman Show", "Bruce Almighty" and "The Number 23".
