
Jelena Kostanic Tosic was born on July 6, 1981 in Split, Croatia. She is a young talented tennis player.
Biography and Career :
In 1999 she became a professional tennis player after starting her career when she was still a child. Since then she has won four ITF single titles, eight WTA doubles titles and nine ITF doubles titles.
The eight WTA doubles tournaments were conquered at Bol, Kuala Lumpur, Warsaw, Strasbourg, Auckland, Canberra, Tokyo and Bangkok with partners like Michaela Pastikova, Tina Pisnik, Henrieta Nagyova, Jennifer Hopkins, Mervana Jugic-Salkic, Claudine Schaul and Vania King.
As a single player she played finals at the tournaments in Helsinki, Pattaya and Bangalore, but she lost all of them to Anna Smashnova, Shahar Peer and Mara Santangelo. Some say s
he is a better doubles player than a single player and the results can confirm this.
Between 2000 and 2006 she player another seven doubles finals at Budapest in 2000, Strasbourg in 2003, Hertogenbosch in 2004, Prague in 2005, Portoroz in 2005, Hobart in 2006 and Guangzhou in 2006.
At Wimbledon she played in the first round as a single player in 2000 and between 2002 and 2007. Between 2002 and 2005 she played the second round at Wimbledon, but she was then eliminated every time.
The best performances at a Grand Slam title were registered in 2004 at the US Open and at the Australian Open in 2000, 2006 and 2007 where she reached the third round.
