
Jean Grae (birth name Nee Tsidi Ibrahim) was born on November 27, 1976 in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a talented hip-hop singer.
Biography and Career :
Her father's name is Abdullah Ibrahim and her mother's is Sathima Bea Benjamin. They are jazz musicians. She studied at the High School of Performing Arts where studied Vocal Performance and the New York University where majored in Music Business.
At firsts she entered the band Natural Resource. Then she appeared on singles of Pumpkinhead and Bad Seed. In 1998 her band broke up and she began singing as a solo artist at first under the name of What? What? and then as Jean Grae.
In 2002 she released her first album, called "Attack of the Attacking Things". Besides this she released another two: "The Bootleg of the Bootl
eg" in 2003 and "This Week" in 2004.
Artists like Atmosphere, The Roots, Talib Kweli, The Herbaliser, Da Beatminerz, Phonte, Mr. Len, Masta Ace, Vordul Mega, C-Rayz Walz and Immortal Technique collaborated with her and soon she was a popular artist.
She has a contract for one year with Third Earth Music and then between 2003 and 2005 with Babygrande Records. Since 2005 she is in collaboration with Blacksmith Records / Warner Bros. Records.
She is a great woman, talented, and with the help of her fans she will continue doing a great job in the music world.
