Jean Arthur (birth name Gladys Georgianna Greene) was born on October 17, 1900 in Plattsburgh, New York, USA. She was a famous actress.

Biography and Career :

She began her career in 1923 in the silent film "Cameo Kirby". She had a great success because of her nasal voice which distinguished her from other actresses.
Jean was elected WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1929. She played in many movies and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. In 1944 she quited after the contract with Columbia Pictures expired. She decided to teach drama at Vassar College and between 1966and 1967 she played in a short-lived comedy, "The Jean Arthur Show". She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She died on June 19, 1991 because of heart failure.
