Jan Mabuse Adopted name of Jan Gossaert (c. 1478 - c.1533) was a Flemish painter, active chiefly in Antwerp.

Short Biography:

His common name derives from his birthplace, Maubeuge. His visit to Italy in 1508 with Philip of Burgundy started a new vogue in Flanders for Italianate ornament and classical influence in painting, including sculptural nude figures.
