Biography and Career:

James Welch was an award winning author and poet of U.S. His father and Mother were the member of Blackfeet tribe and Gros Ventre tribe respectively.

He did his school in Blackfoot and fort Belknap. Welch studied under Richard Hugo in University of Montana.Welch was teaching in the University of Washington, Cornell.

He was also serving the Parole Board of the Montana Prisons Systems. And he was one of the Board of Directors of the Newberry Library D'Arcy McNickle Center.

He started his career in the University, where his words became as an achievemnt and got precious awards in his life time.

Some of his Good writin gs were Novels like Winter in the Blood, The Death of Jim Loney, Fools Crow, The Indian Lawyer and The Heartsong of Charging Elk

Some of his famous poems were Riding the Earthboy 40, Last Stand at Little Bighorn and Christmas Comes to Moccasin Flat.

James Welch died when he was 62 years old, in his home at Missoula.
