James Monroe was born on April 28, 1758 and he was the fifth President of the United States. The place of his origins was the wooded area of Westmoreland County, Virginia known today as Monroe Hall, Virginia.
Biography and Career:
Spence Monroe was the father of James Monroe. He was a good planter and was well aware about carpentry trade. Elizabeth Jones Monroe was in love with his father and married him in 1752. James Monroe had three brothers. He got admission in the College of William and Mary. He was very fond of law and studied law in future.
In the college his best friend was Thomas Jefferson. They both took keen interest in studying books especially of law. Thomas Jefferson persuaded and convinced him to study all types of law books. He took the guidance of his frien
d in all sorts of problems. They used to discuss every problem related to law. Finally he left the college to continue study with Thomas Jefferson.
James Monroe was somewhat shy person and was not a very good public speaker. He tried his level best to make his country strong and prosperous. He wanted to see his nation a young and powerful symbol. Even though he was not a brilliant and extra ordinary person yet he had a great impact and influence on the history of America. He was a patriotic and courageous soldier in the Revolutionary War.
James Monroe was the famous and bold person who helped to make the country strong and secure by warning the countries of Europe. He warned the countries of Europe to mind their own business and not to interfere in the nation's business. He mostly shared his personal and other problems with Jefferson because Jefferson told him that he would be available for his support every time and will keep his secrets confidential.
James Monroe helped Jefferson to the best of his level in the arrangement of the Louisiana Purchase. This was a large area of land which was later divided into 15 states. Then when he became president, Florida was purchased from Spain and as a result country was growing very fast!
When ever James Monroe took an important step he used to consult his ministers and experts to get their view and opinions before implementation of his final decision. He was the one who always tried to see other people's viewpoints and never tried to impose his opinions over others. He tried to always be fair. That is why; he was a beloved personality and was able to make friends even with those who boldly opposed him. His two terms as a president became famous as the Era of Good Feeling.
