James Garfield (full name James Abram Garfield) was born on Saturday, November 19, 1831 in Moreland Hills, Ohio, USA. He was the 20th President of the United States.
Biography and Career:
He belonged to a very poor family and earned his living hood by driving Canal Boats Teams. The same struggle was the only source to get education.
In 1856 he completed graduation from Williams College in Massachusetts. After that he came back to western Reserve Eclectic Institute in Ohio which was later called Hiram College and served there as classic Professor.
As a republican he was chosen to Ohio senate in 1859. In 1862 he led a brigade a middle crack and successfully defeated the confederate troops. At the age of 31 years, he was ranked as brigadier General of volunteers.
In the
same year Ohioans insisted him for the selection of congress, President Lincoln asked him to leave the commission and offered him to be a Republican for congress. He won the re-election again and again and became the leading Republican.
As a President James Garfield tried his level best to make the Federal Authority more and more strong over New York customs.
Garfield submitted a list of people which were appointed to senate including Conkling's friends and he called Conkling the biggest rival William H. Robertson to run the House of custom. In the response Conkling made great protest against nomination and requested senate to block it.
As for as his foreign policy is concerned his secretary of state, send an invitation to all the republicans in 1882.
James Garfield became the victim of a bullet and on 19 September in 1881, he died from a fatal infection and anatomical hemorrhage.
