Jakob Ludwig Karl Grimm (1785-1863) was a German philologist and collaborator with his brother Wilhelm Karl (1786-1859) in the Fairy Tales (1812-1814), based on collected folk tales. Short Biography:
Jakob's main work was his Deutsche Grammatick / German Grammar (1819), which gave the first historical treatment of the Germanic languages; Grimm's Law, a rule governing sound changes that have occurred in some European languages, is named after him.
