Jackie Coogan, an American actor who began his career as a child artist. He was born on the October 26, 1914. He started his career in the era of silent movies.
Career and Biography:
Master Coogan was born in the city of Los Angeles in California. He started his career as a child artist in the 1917 movie Skinner's Baby. Charlie Chaplin found him performing shimmy and he at once realized that the boy was a natural mimic. Coogan acted brilliantly in the 1921 movie The Kid , which was a Charlie Chaplin classic. In the year 1922 he acted in the title role of the Frank Lloyd film Oliver Twist. This film made him popular and he acted in a number of movies.
He went to the Urban Military Academy . After finishing his school he went to many colleges .He Attended University of South
ern during this time. He also attended Santa Clara University at a time.
He survived a fatal accident on the 4th of May in the year 1935 which took away the lives of his father and his friend Junior Durkin. Durkin was also famous as a child actor who got fame for his role as Huckleberry Finn.
Master Coogan earned a huge amount of $ 3 to 4 million but his stepfather Arthur Bernstein and his mother Lilian continued to spend that money as their own and they spend the money lavishly on cars, clothes and diamonds. He sued his stepfather and mother in 1938 when he was 23 years old and he managed to recover $126,000 only after the court and lawyer expenses. When he faced hard time on financial crisis Charlie Chaplin provided him with full support.
