Joseph John Thomson (1856-1940) was responsible for organising the Cavendish atomic research laboratory at Cambridge.
Short Biography:
His work inaugurated the electrical theory of the atom, and his eluddation of positive rays and their application to an analysis of neon led to Aston's discovery of isotopes (atoms of the same element but having different masses). He won the Nobel prize in 1906.
