Ingvar Gosta Carlsson (born in 1934) is a Swedish socialist politician, leader of the Social Democratic Party, deputy prime minister 1982-1986 and prime minister from 1986.
Short Biography:
After studying in Sweden and the USA, Carlsson became president of the Swedish Social-Democratic Youth League in 1961.
He was elected to the Riksdag (parliament) in 1964 and became a minister in 1969.
With the return to power of the Social Democrats in 1982, Carlsson became deputy to Prime Minister Palme and on his assassination in 1986 succeeded him.
