Ingrid Michaelson was born in 1979 in Staten Island, Stapleton, New York.

Biography and Career:

Her father is a composer and her mother is a sculptor. She started taking piano classes from the age of 5 and, later on, enrolled for vocal tuitions. She holds a degree in theatre from New York State University, Binghamton.

After college, she played weekly at a coffee bar. The next year, she produced her debut album, titled “Slow the Rain". She also taught theatre in the meantime.
Ingrid uploaded another of her self-produced works, “Girls and Boys" to MySpace.com. Many listeners liked the sound of her album, particularly the track “Breakab le". Soon, Ingrid began to perform on bigger TV shows and her name was being spread wide in the music scene.

One of her listeners on MySpace, an owner of a music management company, helped her to appear on the TV show “Grey’s Anatomoy" on ABC. Four tracks, including “Breakable" and “Keep Breathing" were played on the show over a period of six months. Apart from this her songs were played in “The Real World" and “One Tree Hill".

In June 2007, Ingrid finally decided to leave her job of teaching theatre and take up music as a round-the-clock profession. She hasn’t singed up with a label and we are still waiting to see what kind of deal she gets.
