Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) studied under Rimsky-Korsakov and wrote the music for the Diaghilev ballets The Firebird in 1910, Petrushka in 1911, and The Rite of Spring in 1913 (controversial at the time for their unorthodox rhythms and harmonies).

His versatile work ranges from his Neo-Classical ballet Pulcinella in 1920, to the choral-orchestral Symphony of Psalms in 1930. He later made use of serial techniques in works such as the Canticum Sacrum in 1955 and the ballet Agon 1953-1957.
