Igor Andreev

Igor AndreevIgor Andreev was born on July 14, 1983 in Moscow, Russia. He is a talented tennis player.

Biography and Career :

He started loving this sport and playing it. In 2002, at the age of nineteen, he became a professional tennis player. His coach, Jose Altur, is the person who is next to him during the tournaments and takes care of the training.

Until now (2007) he has won three ATP single tournaments and one ATP doubles tournaments. In April 2005 he won his first single title. It was happening at the tournament in Valencia and his opponent in the final was the Spanish player, David Ferrer. The match ended with the score 6-3 5-7 6-3.

After a few months, in October 2005 another two titles were won, one in Palermo on clay and one in Moscow on carpet against players like Filippo Volandri from Italy and Nicolas Kiefer from Germany.

2004 was the year when he played another two finals, one in Bucharest and one in Gstaad, but he lost them. The first one was lost to Jose Acasuso and the other to famous player Roger Federer.

Next year in Bucharest he managed to play again into the final and this time was defeated by Florent Serra. The last final he has played until now was in 2006 at Sydney where he faced James Blake in the final.

Nikolay Davydenko, his compatriot, was his partner when they won the doubles title at the tournament in Moscow. His greatest performance at a Grand Slam tournament happened in 2007 at Roland Garros when he was one of the quarter-finalists, but unfortunately he lost to Novak Dokovic. Before that match he won against players like Andy Roddick or Marcos Baghdatis. The third round was reached in 2005 at Wimbledon and in 2006 at the Australian Open and the second round in 2005 at the US Open.
