Hugh Latimer (1490-1555) was a English Christian church reformer and bishop.

Short Biography:

After his conversion to Protestantism in 1524 he was imprisoned several times but was protected by Cardinal Wolsey and Henry Vlll. He was burned for heresy.

Latimer was appointed hishop of Worcester in 1535, but resigned in 1539. Under Edward VI his sermons denouncing social injustice won him great influence, but after the accession of Mary he was arrested in 1553 and two years later bumed at the stake in Oxford.
