Ho Chi Minh adopted name of Nguyen That Tan (1890-1969) was a North Vietnamese Communist politician, president from 1954.
Short Biography:
He was trained in Moscow, and headed the communist Vietminh from 1941. Having campaigned against the French (1946-1954), he became president and prime minister of the republic at the armistice.
Aided by the communist bloc, he did much to develop industrial potential. He relinquished the premiership in 1955, but continued as president.
