Sir Henry Creswicke Rawlinson (1810-1895) was a English orientalist and political agent in Baghdad in the Ottoman Empire from 1844. Short Biography:
He deciphered the Babylonian and Old Persian scripts of Darius I's trilingual inscription at Behisrun, Persia, continued the excavation work of A. H. Layard, and published a History of Assyria in 1852.
