Henry Oldenburg (1615-1677) was a German official who founded and edited the first-ever scientific periodical, Philosophical Transactions, and, through his extensive correspondence, acted as a clearing house for the science of the day. Short Biography:
He was born in Bremen and first came to London in 1652, working as a Bremen agent and then a tutor.
In 1663, he was appointed to the new post of Secretary to the Royal Society, a position he held until his death.
