Helena Bonham Carter did not receive any formal training as an actress. The first milestone of her future career came in 1979 when she won a national writing contest. Helena decided to use the money to pay for her entry into the actors' directory S
potlight. After that she debuted as a professional actress at the early age of 16 with a television add. Helena's breakthrough role was Lucy Honeychurch in "A Room with a View".
Because of the typology of her first few movies she gained the nickname of the "corset queen", and "English rose'. However, since then Helena has played in a wide range of films, such as "Fight Club", "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit", and Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Corpse Bride", "Big Fish" and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".
2006 was the year in which Helena Bonham Carter decided to launch her own fashion line, called "The Pantaloonies", together with Samantha Sage, renowened swimware designer. Their first collection, called Bloomin' Bloomers, is a Victorian style selection of camisoles, mop caps and bloomers.
