Hans Memling (c. 1430-1494) painted religious subjects and portraits.
Short Biography:
Some of his works are in the Hospital of Saint John, Bruges, including the Adoration of the Magi in 1479.
Memlinc is said to have been a pupil of van der Weyden, but his style is calmer and softer. His portraits include Tqmmaso Portinari and his Wife (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York), and he decorated the Shrine of St Ursula in 1489 (Hospital of Saint John, Bruges).
