Hans Geiger

Hans Geiger Johannes Wilhelm Geiger (1882-1945) was a German physicist who produced the Geiger counter.

Short Biography:

After studying in Germany, he spent the period 1907-1912 in Manchester, working with Ernest Rutherford.

In 1908 they designed an instrument to detect alpha particles, given off by some radioactive materials, which was refined and made more powerful to produce the Geiger counter in the 1920s.
