Gustave Moreau (1826-1898) works are biblical, mythological, and literary scenes, richly coloured and detailed, and atmospheric.Short Biography:
Salome Dancing Before Herod in 1876 attracted much attention when it was first exhibited. In the 1890s Moreau taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where his pupils included Matisse and Rouault. Much of his work is in the Musee Moreau, Paris.
