Guillermo Canas was born on November 25, 1977 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a well known tennis player.
Biography and Career :
When he was seven years old he started playing tennis. His junior career had a great result in 1995 when he managed to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. 1995 was the year when he became a professional player. After six years of playing and after a wrist injury he was placed on the 15th position of Top 100 after being on the position 227. He received the ATP Comeback Player of Year title.
His first title at a tournament came in 2002 in Toronto and his opponent in the final was Andy Roddick. He managed at that tournament to defeat players like Roger Federer, Paradorn Srichaphan, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Marat Safin and Tommy Haas.
He had some
troubles and was suspended for one year. He had the power to come back. Another titles won were at Casablanca, Chennai, Stuttgart, Umag, Shanghai and the last one in 2007 at Costa do Sauipe, where had as opponent in the Juan Carlos Ferrero. The score of that final was 7-6(4), 6-2.
As a doubles player he won two titles at Boston and Stuttgart, along Martin Garcia and Rainer Schuettler. nIn 2001 he lost in the fourth round at Wimbledon and after three years in the third at US Open. At the Australian Open he played into the fourth round in 2004 and 2005.
The French Open is the Grand Slam tournament with the best results for him. He has played there in the quarter-finals in 2002, 2005 and 2007.
He is a good player and is now recovered after having problems. He managed to beat famous players and maybe he will show us his real forces.
