The actual members of the band are Billie Joe Armstrong who is the lead vocalist, lead & rhythm guitarist since 1989, Mike Dirnt, bassist, backing vocalist since1989 and Tre Cool who is a drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist since 1990. John Kiffmeyer was the drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist between 1989 and 1990.
The boys sing punk rock, pop punk and alternative rock. They released their debut album in 1990 and it was called "39/Smooth". Besides this album the band released another six albums until now (2007). The great success appeared in 1994 with the album "Dookie" and they sold ten million copies. Now (2007) they are famous all over th
e world and have million fans. During the years they won many prizes and awards, including three Grammy Awards, Best Alternative Album for "Dookie", Best Rock Album for "American Idiot" and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
Billie Joe Armstrong was born on February 17, 1972 in Oakland, California, USA. Mike Dirnt was born on May 4, 1972 in Berkeley, California, USA. Tre Cool was born on December 9, 1972 in Frankfurt, Germany. They are great musicians, who managed to survive many years in tops and we are sure their fans will enjoy the band’s music a long time.
