Gong Li was born on the 31st of December 1965 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. She is an international famous actress.

Biography and Career :

She had attended the Central Drama Academy in Beijing.
Besides her, the parents have another four children.
When she was a child she wanted to be an actress and she did her best in order to achieve her goal. She was a great student at singing and dancing.
Some of her first roles were in movies like “Ju Dou”, “Raise the Red Lantern” and “The Story of Qiu Ju”.
Year after year, role after role she was becoming more popular and in 2005 got a role in “Memoirs of a Geisha” which made her a famous actress all over the world.
In 2006 and 2007 she appeared in “Miami Vice” and “Hannibal Rising”.
On the 15th of February 1996 she married Ooi Wei Ming.
She was awarded with the New York Film Critics award for “Ba wang bie ji (or Farewell My Concubine)”.
She also received the "Trophy of the Festival" award at Cannes and became the youngest person to win it.
Other awards she had won are Golden Rooster Award for Best Actress, Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress, NBR Award for Best Supporting Actress or NYFCC Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In 1997 at the Cannes Film Festival she was one of the members of jury.
