Goldie (full name Clifford Joseph Price) was born on September 19, 1965, in Walsall, England. His father left when Goldie was a child and thereafter he was brought up by a number of foster parents. Goldie made up for his troubled life by getting involved in hip-hop culture.

He did breakdance with a number of groups including Westside and B-boys and also worked as a graffiti artist. Goldie participated in the largest graffiti battle till date with Robert Del Naja. After that he went to USA and started a business of golden teeth which he carried on after coming back to Britain in 1988.

During this time, his girlfriend, DJ Kemistry, introduced him to 4hero. With them he released tracks like Ajak Project, Killa Muffin and also released an EP, named Dark Rider, under the name of Rufige Cr u.
After that, the song, “Terminator”, became a big hit and it was followed by the release of Angel. Shortly after this release, Goldie established his own record label under the name of Metalheadz in 1993. His efforts proved successful with the release of the albums, Timeless and Saturnz Return. Both the album received good ratings and considerable sales.

Goldie began acting in the meantime and appeared in movies like The World is Not Enough (1999), The Ninth Gate (1999) and Snatch (2000). He also acted on the show EastEnders and also entered the Celebrity Big Brother during 2001 and 2002.
He also appeared in the TV reality show Maestro on BBC and the show’s ratings increased around three fold. After all these success, Goldie’s son was announced to be running from the police in September 2008.

Why is he famous?

Goldie is famous as a musician and DJ for his jungle and drum ‘n’ bass genres but he had derived his name from his golden teeth. He has also appeared in several movies and written his autobiography.
