Gilbert Burnet (1643-1715) was a British historian and bishop, author of History of His Own Time 1723-1724.
Short Biography:
His Whig views having brought bim into disfavour, he retired to The Hague on the accession of James II, and became the confidential adviser of William of Orange, with whom he sailed to England in 1688.
He was appointed bishop of Salisbury in 1689.
