
Gigel Coman was born on October 4, 1978 in Bucharest, Romania. He is a famous Romanian football player.
Biography and Career :
Gigel Coman started playing professional football in Bucharest at FC National in the season 1996-1997. His first game in A Division (First Romanian League) was on October 6, 1996 against Gloria Bistrita and his team won with 2-0. First two years here was more a substitute and he played only in 11 games but succeeded to score once.
Starting with the season 1998-1999 he became a basic player for his team and played in most of the games. Between 1998-2005, the year when he left FC National, he played in 148 games and scored 20 times.
Gigel Coman's best period of time was when Cosmin Olaroiu was his coach. It was a special relationship between them a
nd that's why in 2005 when Olaroiu signed for FCU Poli Timisoara Coman went there too. He tried with Olaroiu and other team mates from FC National to make a powerful team at Timisoara but they didn't succeed and Cosmin Olaroiu was fired from the team in the end of the year 2005.
In the beginning of the season 2006-2007 Cosmin Olaroiu who is the coach of Steaua Bucharest asked for him to play at Steaua Bucharest. Steaua gave Andrei Cristea to Poli Timisoara and obtained Gigel Coman and 200.000 euro.
When he signed for Steaua he said: "My coming at Steaua is a step forward and I hope to play in UEFA Champions League with my new team…", which he succeeded after Steaua eliminated Standard Liege in the Preliminaries.
In the European Cups Gigel Coman played with FC National in Cup Winners' Cup (one game) and in UEFA Cup (6 games) and also with Steaua Bucharest in UEFA Champions League in a group with Real Madrid, Dynamo Kiev and Olimpique Lyon.
For the Romanian National team he debuted on April 30, 2003 in a game against Lithuania. He also played against Netherlands and Armenia in 2005.
